What position are you in throughout the day?

Are you in a chair typing away all day or are you on  a building site lugging

a hob full of bricks up and down a ladder?

What ever you're doing there is a load through your back which

can be enormous and should be something on your mind. 

 

Below is a diagram showing the relative loads through the lumbar

spine in different positions and what is alarming is the fact that just

sat down with 'good posture' there is a tremendous load continually

being applied through the spine. 

 

There may be some of you who go to the gym and sit on a weights bench,

pick up some weights and do some biceps curls. But by sitting down and

then lifting weights from the floor you are putting a seriously massive

load through your back which can easily lead to a disc prolapse - something

you really dont want.

 

Having read this post I hope you will try and get up and walk more at work

or try and get some exercise to strengthen your core musculature and

back muscles. Doing so will prevent injury and allow you to lead a pain free life.
